Expanding on the original Wireless GO, the Rode Wireless GO II (black) offers significant upgrades like dual-channel recording for two-person shoots, onboard recording capability, extended range, and versatile output options. This makes it a reliable choice for videographers, vloggers, and mobile journalists of any experience level, regardless of the recording device they are using.
With secure Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission, intuitive operation, and built-in microphones (with optional lavaliers available separately), the system is ready for action at the push of a button. This lets users focus on capturing the shot with confidence that the Wireless GO II will provide high-quality audio up to 656 feet away. Its simple design features a bright, informative LCD screen and no complicated menus or settings. For enhanced customization, users can access an array of powerful features through Rode’s companion app.
Note: The transmitters can record uncompressed audio with a maximum resolution of 24-bit/48 kHz. Only DAWs and programs that support 32-bit float can export files at that resolution or in 32-bit float/48 kHz using Rode’s companion app. The transmitters do not directly record in 32-bit float.
Version II upgrades
Unlike the original Wireless GO, which had only a single channel, the Wireless GO II supports two-channel recording, allowing two transmitters to work simultaneously for dual-person shoots with minimal latency (3.5 to 4 ms). Using the Rode Central app (compatible with Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android), users can access enhanced features, such as onboard transmitter recording, dual mono safety track recording, and audio playback and export.
The transmitters each offer up to seven hours of uncompressed recording (24-bit/48 kHz WAV) or 24 hours of compressed recording, perfect for reliable backup or quick sound capture. You can export files in formats such as MP3 or WAV (16-, 24-, or 32-bit float), which include date, time stamps, and automatic markers for any lost signal moments.
Since the Wireless GO II supports two transmitters, users can select stereo or dual-mono output modes, recording each subject to a separate channel or mixing them identically to left and right channels. You can also activate safety track recording (-20 dB on the right channel) using the app.
In addition to the standard 3.5mm TRS analog output, the receiver includes a USB Type-C digital audio output that works as a 24-bit/48 kHz audio interface. It can be connected to computers via a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, or to mobile devices via the Rode SC15 or SC16 cable (available separately).
The Series IV technology extends the operating range to about 656 feet, compared to the 230 feet of the original Wireless GO, while also improving signal strength in crowded wireless environments. This system handles both transmitters without impacting performance.
Powerful Customization
Always Recording Mode:
As soon as the transmitter turns on, this mode automatically begins recording, ensuring continuous recording regardless of the receiver’s status, making it perfect for standalone field recording. Mute does not affect onboard recording.
Backup Recording Mode:
Recording starts when the transmitter connects to the receiver and stops when disconnected, ensuring backup coverage during active wireless transmission.
Recording Off:
Rode Central allows you to manage existing recordings, but it completely disables the onboard recording function.
Additional customizable features include input pads for handling loud talkers, LED brightness control, and the ability to configure the power button for various functions, such as muting, dropping markers, or disabling it.
Ready Out of the Box
The design of the Wireless GO II prioritizes simplicity and efficiency. The receiver and transmitters automatically pair once powered on, facilitating a quick start for mobile journalists, videographers, and vloggers.
You can clip the lightweight, compact transmitters and receivers to clothing, belts, or cameras, use them with built-in microphones, or pair them with traditional bodypack transmitters like the Rode Lavalier GO. The receiver’s small form factor allows for simple mounting, while its bright, high-contrast display provides essential information like battery status, audio levels, and signal strength.
True Wireless Microphone for Run-and-Gun
The Wireless GO II features a high-quality, pre-polarized, omnidirectional lavalier mic built directly into the transmitter housing, eliminating the need for a separate microphone. Its omnidirectional pickup pattern ensures consistent, clear audio, regardless of placement.
For users with existing lavaliers, the transmitter includes a 3.5mm TRS input with plug-in power, accommodating most non-locking TRS lavalier microphones.
Reliable and secure operation
Like other Rode wireless systems, the Wireless GO II operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, avoiding the complexities of UHF channels. Thanks to Rode’s optimized transmission algorithm, it offers a line-of-sight range of up to 656 feet and mitigates dropouts in crowded spaces. The 128-bit encryption ensures a secure and stable connection without needing frequency licenses, making it suitable for use worldwide.
For the best results, maintain a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. Note that the Wireless GO II is not backward-compatible with the original Wireless GO.
Integration with Rode Connect
The Wireless GO II is fully compatible with Rode Connect software, ideal for capturing broadcast-grade audio for streaming, presentations, podcasting, and more. Rode Connect enables the connection of two Wireless GO IIs to a single computer, thereby generating four distinct audio streams. The system can also work alongside the NT-USB Mini within Rode Connect.
